It’s hard to go wrong with a spicy marg–especially this one.

The tart, refreshing flavors of mandarin mix perfectly with the cointreau, tequila, and lime for a perfectly citrusy cocktail (if mandarins are out of season when you make this, you can use clementines or sumos instead). And the best news: this recipe doesn’t require a complicated homemade simple syrup–just a touch of cane sugar that will fully dissolve when you shake it. We’ll drink to that!

How to Make It

  • 2 thin slices red or green serrano pepper, plus extra to garnish
  • Ice cubes

  1. Prepare glass by first rimming it with salt, then filling it with ice.
  2. Combine tequila with mandarin juice, Cointreau, lime juice, and sugar in a cocktail shaker. Add pepper, then fill with ice and shake for 20 seconds. Strain into prepared glass. Garnish with additional sliced pepper and mandarin.
