There’s nothing like fresh flowers to brighten your days—and your space.

Whether it’s a small simple arrangement or a big romantic bundle, we have the tips you need to make your flowers a natural blooming beauty.

Begin with the blooms

We love shopping local and organic, or better yet, cutting flowers right from our own gardens. (It’s better for the environment and they last longer, too.) Start by finding three types of flowers: flowers that bring movement, flowers that add texture, and big flowers that add a statement to your arrangement. And choose the colors you love to bring it all to life.

Get your tools ready

Grab scissors and call them shears to really get into the spirit. Give your flowers a trim by cutting them at the base at a sharp 45-degree angle. Add your flowers to water right away so they don’t wilt. And then, trim all excess foliage and thorns that would fall below the waterline of your vase.

Select the vase

As a rule of thumb, make sure your bouquet is about one and a half times taller than its container. If your flowers are bold and colorful, opt for a neutral vase. If you selected blooms that were white or green, add a pop of color with a bold base.

Arrange away

Start with a big statement flower. Then, add your movement and texture pieces on either side. Turn your arrangement as you add more stems, one by one. Before placing your arrangement in the vase, trim all your stems at an even length. Then, fill your vase ¾ of the way with clean water and carefully place your flowers inside.

And, just like that, you have a beautiful at-home bouquet.
