If you’re anything like us, the change of seasons can throw you for a bit of a loop.

Yes, we love the cozy days and additional time spent relaxing inside, but, sometimes, the long nights and brutal weather can take its toll. That’s why we tapped Michelle Velan, Founder & CEO of Wondersource, for tips on handling it all. Read on for our conversation.

Question 01

For those who aren’t familiar–what is Wondersource?

Wondersource is a holistic mental fitness company that cuts through the clutter. We bring effective, science-backed, interactive employee programs focused on holistic health, mental well-being and professional development led by renown experts.

Our mission is to empower professionals and employees to live mentally and physically healthy lives, unlock their potential, bring their best, most innovative and focused selves to work each day.and truly thrive. We offer a range of services, including our signature Mind, Body, Work program—18 expert-led classes designed to help teams enhance their mental and physical well-being and develop the soft skills they need to lead themselves with confidence and focus. Our offerings help to promote an abundant mindset and empower individuals to bring their best selves to work.

We also offer workshops across key topics like women’s health, anxiety, communication and more.

Additionally, we provide 1-on-1 coaching packages for employees and individuals seeking personalised support beyond their workplace. This is our newest offering and I’m actually the one running the 1-1 for individuals. I am so passionate about helping people to heal from core wounds and unconditionally love, validate, accept, respect and trust themselves, take ownership and responsibility for their lives, believe in themselves, know how valuable and important they are, manage stress so they can show up as their best selves, live with more joy and ease, think abundantly.

As I started to learn more about the nervous system and healing in general, I realised that the nervous system is designed to activate ‘fight or flight’ responses during immediate threats, like being faced with a predator. However, chronic stress or unresolved trauma can leave us stuck in this reactive state, which impacts higher brain functions like creativity, problem-solving, and intuition—all of which are essential for generating success, wealth. By cultivating a regulated nervous system that is resilient and flexible, we open ourselves up to greater ease in achieving–joy, love, abundance, success, and prosperity. And my greatest goal with my business is to help people release what’s holding them back from fully experiencing their joy, potential, and everything available to them in this lifetime.

Question 02

Thank you! Sounds like there’s truly something for everyone. Now, on to our seasonal chat. Do you shift your wellness practices between summer and fall?

In the summer, I take a more relaxed approach and I spend as much time outdoors as possible. This year, I spent a lot of time in Canada, where I’m from, and I went for long walks, I swam, and I played tennis. I just try to move as much as possible and connect with people rather than a strict routine.

In the fall, I go back to my regular fitness routine: spin 2-3 times a week, Pilates once a week, and lots of walking. I’m also incorporating F45 for strength training—it’s so important to build muscle. Regardless of the season, my mental fitness practices remain consistent: daily meditation, visualisation, journaling, and tapping. Tapping is my favourite!

Question 03

How do you handle London’s cold, grey weather and early sunsets?

The shorter days in London were a tough adjustment at first. When I moved here, I really felt affected by the long stretches of darkness during the winter months. I would go to work in the dark and leave in the dark! I struggled. Now, with a more flexible schedule, I make it a priority to get outside during the day for a walk and sunlight, which helps my energy levels and mood. It’s important to get sunlight on our face every day, ideally in the earlier part of the day.
