Is there anything better than hibernating on a weekend and watching holiday movies?

Here at our household, we make a whole thing of it. With holiday cocktails and lots of snacks, we’re always down for a movie marathon. Here are a few flicks that we can’t wait to watch this December.

It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)

Could this perhaps be the most classic holiday Christmas movie of all time? It’s filmed with nostalgia, compassionate capitalism undertones, and of course, a feel-good ending.

Favorite Quote: “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.”

Available to stream on Prime Video.

The Holiday (2007)

This rom-com has everything we need in a holiday movie: quirky humor, spaghetti alfredo, instant romances, and cross-continental travel. And if you don’t celebrate Christmas, it’s not riddled with Santa Claus and carols.

Favorite Quote: “Iris, if you were a melody… I used only the good notes.”

Available to stream on Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+.

Groundhog’s Day (1993)

This winter gem of a movie hits all of the classic themes: growth, good deeds, and redemption. Sure, it’s set a few months after the holiday season, but it still fits the mood.

Favorite Quote: “I like to see a man of advancing years throw caution to the wind. It’s inspiring in a way.”

Available to stream on Prime Video and FuboTV.

The Family Stone (2006)

Family dynamics during the holidays? Oh yeah. With Diane Keaton as the head of a family of six and Rachel McAdams as the testy sister, there’s so much to love about this snowy, New England holiday movie.

Favorite Quote: “You have a freak flag. You just don’t fly it.”

Available to stream on Netflix and Disney+.
