It’s hard to go wrong with a spicy marg–especially this one.

The tart, refreshing flavors of mandarin mix perfectly with the cointreau, tequila, and lime for a perfectly citrusy cocktail (if mandarins are out of season when you make this, you can use clementines or sumos instead). And the best news: this recipe doesn’t require a complicated homemade simple syrup–just a touch of cane sugar that will fully dissolve when you shake it. We’ll drink to that!

Ingredients
  • 1 ½ oz 100% Agave Tequila Blanco
  • ¾ oz strained fresh mandarin juice
  • ½ oz Cointreau
  • ¼ oz strained freshly squeezed lime juice
  • ¼ tsp cane sugar
  • 2 thin slices red or green serrano pepper, plus extra to garnish
  • Ice cubes
  • Kosher salt, to rim glass
  • Mandarin slice, to garnish
Instructions
  1. Prepare glass by first rimming it with salt, then filling it with ice.
  2. Combine tequila with mandarin juice, Cointreau, lime juice, and sugar in a cocktail shaker. Add pepper, then fill with ice and shake for 20 seconds. Strain into prepared glass. Garnish with additional sliced pepper and mandarin.
