Small Changes That Refresh Your Home for Spring

Spring is the easiest time of year to feel motivated about your home.

The light shifts, the flowers come back, and suddenly you want your space to reflect that. If yours is overdue for a little attention, we’ve pulled together a few simple ways to bring the season inside, no major overhaul required.

Ikebana Arrangement

More stems isn’t always better. The Japanese art of ikebana is built around negative space and intentional placement – a few carefully chosen stems arranged in a shallow bowl with a flower frog. It’s a good reminder that simple can often be more striking than full and abundant.

Mini Bud Vases

A single stem on a bedside table or bathroom vanity does more than you’d think. Bud vases are the lowest-effort way to bring life into a room without it feeling overdone. Scatter a few throughout the house and the whole space feels more considered.

Indoor Herb Garden

If you want something green that earns its keep, start with herbs. A potted basil on a sunny windowsill is as simple as it gets, and a hydroponic setup is a good option if you want something a little more hands-on. Either way, fresh herbs on the counter make the kitchen feel alive in a way that’s hard to explain until you try it.

Houseplants

Houseplants outlast cut flowers and require less attention than most people expect. A snake plant is the right starting point if you want something genuinely low-maintenance. A monstera works if you want height and presence. Whatever you choose, the pot matters – a woven basket adds warmth and texture without competing with the plant itself.

Bring the Outdoors In

If you have any outdoor space at all, a good pair of shears opens up a lot of options. Snip a budding branch and put it in a vase, or gather a few blooms and arrange them in bud vases around the house. It costs nothing and the effect is hard to replicate any other way.
