Cinco de Mayo Menu

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday with history.

Every year, we reference our guide to hosting a respectful Cinco de Mayo celebration and observing the holiday’s meaning. This year, we’ll be doing everything we’ve listed in that guide: and we’re also throwing a fabulous dinner featuring some of our favorite Mexican-inspired food. Here’s what we’re eating.

We’re starting with best ever guacamole

We’d never celebrate Cinco de Mayo without some delicious guac, and we seriously do believe ours is the best ever. Plus, there’s only one way to find out if you agree: make some for yourself!

We’re toasting with mandarin spicy margaritas

You can’t go wrong with a margarita. You really can’t go wrong with this one. From the tart but refreshing mandarin to the generously salted rim and the gorgeous garnishes, it’s a cocktail that’s both photo-ready and goes down easy. Just don’t have too many.
Arctic Char Fish Tacos with Pickled Red Onionsby Casa de Suna

We’re diving into some family style arctic char tacos for our main

This is the type of recipe that can handle a crowd (pro tip: look out for the phrase “family style” if you’re hosting – it’ll make your life significantly easier). These tacos come together quickly–but they’ll get consumed ven quicker. Buon appetito!

We’re finishing off with some horchata ice cream

Fany Gerson, the founder of La New Yorkina, started the now-viral NYC dessert stop after a trip back home to Mexico, where she rediscovered a love of Mexican sweets. And we’re ultra-thankful for that, because we love every ice cream flavor La Newyorkina offers. You can order a four-pack and choose from a variety of traditional flavors, including horchata, tres leches, Mexican vanilla, and many more –and fear not, your ice cream will stay cool since it ships with dry ice. It’s a great (and tasty) way to support a Mexican-owned business for the holiday.
